Most of the hard work is over. "My Mountain Heroes" has been written and

published. I've recently rejoined Toastmasters an international organization that

promotes public speaking and communication skills. If preparation and hard work

are the keys to success, then Toastmasters is an important part of my preparation,

for marketing and promoting the book.

For anyone seeking to develop their communication skills and further their

career, Toastmasters is vital.  Franklin Toastmasters is a supportive group and we

have a lot of fun at our meetings. Please join us at our next meeting on Tuesday

February 20th at 6:30. We meet at Tartan Hall located behind the First Presbyterian

Church in Franklin.

I've been asked several times about what it takes to write a book.  It's often been

said that hard work pays off.  It does and there is a tremendous amount of work in

writing a book but hard work isn't enough.  Many kids around the world are all told

by their teachers, parents, and other important figures in their lives that if they work

hard they will succeed in life. Hall of Fame NFL Coach Jimmy Johnson once said:

“Success happens when opportunity meets preparation”. If someone does not put

themselves in the position to succeed, there hard work will never pay off.

There are a huge amount of people around the world who work extremely hard,

but do not find success because they expect success to come to them. It  is equally

important to put yourself in a position to succeed as it is to work hard.

"My Mountain Heroes" would never had been completed if I hadn't many years

ago, taken writing classes, found a couple of great editors, and met some magnificent

people to write about.

Preparation and hard work are the formula for success!
